Reasons to Send a Greeting Card

Wanted to share part of an article I came across….just information we all tend to overlook in our busy, email hectic days…..

1. To say “Thank You” — Thank you cards are always appreciated and they are getting to be uncommon. Stand out by showing teachers, coworkers, etc.  how much you appreciate them.

2. To “Congratulate” — Has your loved one, client, best friend done something special?  Send them a card and congratulate them on their achievements.

3.  To “Motivate“– In these tough economic times, employees can be demotivated and feel unappreciated due to budget cutbacks and reduction of employee recognition.  Send a customized greeting card to help motivate your Team or peers.

4. Wish your clients a “Happy Birthday” — Everyone likes to get a card on their birthday.  Empires have been built on just sending happy birthday cards to clients.

5. To send “Condolences” — A card is a nice way to let people know that you are in their thoughts and prayers.

6. To “Promote” a special event — A handwritten greeting card gets attention and is a great (glossy & full color) way to get extra publicity for any event you are holding.

7. For a “Holiday” — The more unusual the holiday the better. Everyone sends Christmas cards, so why not send one for Ground Hog day? No holiday on the horizon?  How about National Chocolate Chip Pancake Day?  Or National Smile Day?   Or make one up!!!

8. To pay a “Compliment” — Send a card to the boss or supervisor of someone who has gone above and beyond. You’ll get great service next time too.

9. “Just Because“. You don’t really need a reason to send a card. Send cards when you think of it.  Your mom, sister and BFF will be so glad you did!!!

Celebrating the Mail

Everyday it’s the same drill.  “Is there any mail for me?”, my 11 year old daughter asks.  I always offer my junk mail, but she declines.  How about the flyer advertising  the local community college’s upcoming performance of “Annie Got Your Gun”?  No go.  How bout’ the reminder from Dr. Edwards’ office for my bi-annual dental cleaning?  Nope.  Local cable bill?  No way.  And she sulks away like I just took away her  birthday.

I know exactly how she feels.  When I was in college, mail time was the best time.  Or my husband would say during his military service.  Seeing mail in the box was thrilling.  Plus it gave me an excuse to procrastinate studying.  Now, at age almost 40, I want to bake the postman a cake when he brings me “real” mail.  I jump and squeal like a high schooler when I see an envelope that doesn’t have a cellophane window.  Due to my love of the mail and all the good things it brings, I’m even on a first-name basis with our town’s Postmaster.

Sincerely Yours By Tracy understands this infatuation that most of us have with personal mail.  As I browse our photo gallery of greeting cards, I say to myself…..”Wish I got that one”.  ”No wait, wish I had THAT one”.  If I only had more birthdays.”  Then realizing it’s NOT all about me, I think about my Mom who would love that shoe card.  Or the purse card that screams, JODI!!.  Note to self, peace sign card for the niece.  Golfing = Father-in-law.  And the best thing is NONE of their envelopes come with a cellophane window.

Don’t Forget Their Name…

One of the first things I ask after hearing that someone had their baby is the baby’s name.  When I was younger, I had my children’s names picked WAY before I was married.  Then I got married, and my husband had an opinion on those names.  So “we” scratched the names Sierra, Melanie, and Nasdaq.  Although I’m all done having my babies, I still think of neat names and toss them out at my husband.  Maybe one day we’ll need those names and apparently, I need to keep a list.

I have no idea where I picked it up, but somewhere along the way I learned the importance of people’s names.  They are painstakingly chosen by loving parents and music to a new momma and poppa’s ears.  When I meet someone new, maybe through a friend, at the neighborhood park (love those curly slides), or the nice Texan on the telephone assisting me with my monthly bill, I use her name.  When my daughter calls her friend “Dude”, I jump in and remind her that Eli’s parents gave him that name and she needs to use it.  I believe it’s magical to hear our names spoken by the people in our lives.  Someone cares enough to remember and use my name.  The Unforgettable Cards by Sincerely Yours by Tracy lets you show people how important they are to you, by displaying their names on a one-of-a-kind card.  Throw in their interests and likes (Love me some blingy jewels!) and it’s a whole lot of love.  I’m thinking a made-just-for-me card with a coffee mug and my malti-poo dog barking Tracy much more than a store bought card with a generic cake with 40 candles……well, maybe a lil’ butter cream frosting would not hurt.

Back to School

This is one of my favorite times of year….the start of a new school year. New crayons with their wonderful pointy tips. Clean notebooks waiting to be doodled on. Shiny backpacks with two straps and no parking lot marks. Maybe your baby is starting kindergarten (get out those tissues) or your oldest is leaving for college (more tissues).

Honor and remember that approaching-way-to-quickly day with a special card made by Sincerely Yours by Tracy. Add your child’s name and school colors, write your own message of encouragement, and its an instant memory. What about a pack of adorable monogrammed notecards for your child’s teacher? What a fantastic way to say, “so glad my baby has you to guide her through the year”. Encourage your away-from-home student to stay in touch with some trendy peace sign cards. Pre-address the envelopes and add a stamp and wait for the letters to roll in. Don’t forget to order yourself some cute notecards so the, “Sorry, no cash this time” message to your college-student won’t sting so badly.

During this time of shopping for glue sticks and bed-in-a-bag, be sure to grab this opportunity to create memories and stay in touch.
